MANGLA BANSAL: 

Mangla Bansal is an independent filmmaker based in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. She has made documentaries in India on International issues as well as, personal stories. Mangla also has a passion for directing animation. Mangla’s passion in filmmaking revolves around meaningful stories, but a sense of humour is just as important to her.  Her experience in the film and television industry is spread across various different roles from directing, writing, story producing and distribution. Mangla has a real future in film. She is comfortable in two languages and two cultures. She has a perceptive eye and the ability to put those perceptions on the screen.

‘Sindoor’ is a film with a story that is very close to Mangla’s heart. Shot on the RED Camera, ‘Sindoor’ is a project that could not have been completed without the love and hard work of the wonderful cast and crew.   

Mangla was awarded 'Emerging Artist in Film & New Media' for the 2009 City of Vancouver's Mayor's Arts Awards. 'Sindoor' was nominated for 4 2010 LEO Awards and 'Sindoor' was also selected as the opening night film at the 2010 Vancouver Asian Film Festival.

TALITHA CUMMINS: 

Talitha first discovered her fascination for storytelling through her studies in broadcast journalism. Her work has quickly risen through the ranks with a professional edge and technical quality that is beyond her years. Her producer debut featured a music video for TV Heartattack, which won the “Best Use of Creativity” at the No Exit Film Festival, “Best BC Music Video” at the Okanagan Film Festival, and earned her a nomination for “Best in BC” at the Leo Awards. Since then she has produced several award winning music videos and short films for VideoFACT and Bravo!FACT. Her work can be seen on Bravo!, Much Music, and has screened at festivals around the world.

Damian graduated from Simon Fraser University‚ Äôs Communications Program having studied mass media, sound design, visual arts and music. He began his career as a graphic designer and art director, managing multi-million dollar projects. With a recent move into filmmaking, he has directed and produced short films and music videos and is currently developing feature length and serial projects through his production company CINEMANIFESTO www.cinemanifesto.com

ANDREW COPPIN: 

Andrew has worked professionally in the camera department over the past twelve years moving up the ranks to Focus Puller. Andrew is accumulating international T.V., feature film, documentary, and commercial credits as Director of Photography; most recently on feature film, Imani (Ivad, Uganda), and short film The Portside (Best Short, VQFF '09). Andrew is proud of Sindoor and has enjoyed working with the Ramkali team.

RENEE FULSOM:

Renee has been working throughout the art department doing Production Design, Art Direction, Set Decoration and Props for many shorts and now has her first feature under her belt as a Art Director. Over the last couple of years, Renee has augmented her professional design career with studies in interior design, graphic arts, 3D visual display and art history at both Langara College and Emily Carr. Renee brings a high level of integrity, honesty and empathy for those she works around. Renee excels at problem solving with short deadlines and small budgets. She thrives on bringing the Director's vision to reality.

CLARK NIKOLAI: 

Clark Nikolai was born in Saskatchewan. He has been working in video and film for twenty-five years and is widely known as a pioneer in the exploration of video as an art form in western Canada. Clark's videos have been exhibited in numerous cities across Canada, Europe the United States and Japan. He currently lives in Vancouver.

MONA MOK:

Mona is a Vancouver-based filmmaker and graduate of Vancouver Film School’s Sound Design Program. Besides completing audio post-production on 6 short films and 4 documentary trailers, she has also produced, written, directed and taken cinematography duties on Let Me Be Fictional, a feature length documentary about an indie rock band recording their sophomore album in an old farmhouse. Mona is currently in post-production on her first feature comedy film about life in an indie rock recording studio.

RUPINDER SINGH SIDHU: 

Rupinder Sidhu is a music producer and composer in many genres. As a multi instrumentalist and vocalist, he plays with local projects BPM, Non Stop Bhangra and Supna.  From a young age diverse music from around the world have inspired and infused his sound: from folk and classical forms of India, to Hip Hop, Reggae, Tuvin throat singing, African percussion and the list goes on. Rupinder is also a community arts facilitator; he teaches percussion and hip hop at the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach, a free music school for inner city youth. Rupinder founded his own initiative, Metaphor, which brings hip hop performances and empowerment workshops into youth detention centers, schools and rural communities. NEERAJA APTIKAR: 

Neeraja is a gifted Classical Indian vocalist. Her sweet and masterful voice has delighted and inspired listeners throughout India and Canada. Born and raised in a family of Sanskrit scholars, Neeraja learned North Indian classical and semi-classical music under the able guidance of Pandit Shivajirao Bharati of Kirana Gharana and Dr. Vikas Kashalkar at the HOD University in Pune, India. Her musical training includes semi-classical music such as dadra, thumri, hori, kajri and chaiti from Pune based well-known vocalist Jayashree Ranade. She has received several awards for classical, semi-classical and light music.

Riva began her fashion career designing and constructing costumes for videos.  Immediately after, her creative eye landed her a position styling commercials for large multinational companies.  In addition to commercials, she has also worked with celebrity clients such as CATHERINE ZETA JONES, NICKELBACK, DIANA KRALL, ELVIS COSTELLO AND EMMANUELLE VAUGIER.  In 2009 she was hired to design her first feature film, ALTITUDE, staring Jessica Loundes.  Riva currently lives in Vancouver, B.C. With her husband; together they own JD’S BARBERSHOP.

Kate Blythe has worked steadily in the film and television industry for the past 7 years in Great Britain and Canada. Kate trained in England furthering honing her skills in Canada by learning the SPFX side of makeup in hopes of advancing her career in this direction. Megha - ZARA DURRANI: 

Born and raised in Pakistan, Zara Durrani’s world changed when her family traveled across Southeast Asia. By her late teens, she became a Canadian immigrant, learning English from watching movies and the news. By watching old hollywood movies, her lifelong love of performing was renewed. In a span of one year, she appeared in seven commercials, several independent film projects, and a rendition of Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park.” Zara is keen on being versatile, from playing an assassin to a construction worker. Armaan - DALJ BRAR: 

Dalj Brar was born in Burnpur, India, at the age of 2 his parents immigrated to the small town of Kitimat, British Columbia in Canada. Throughout his adolescence, Dalj excelled at many sports and academics and soon realized upon graduating from The University of British Columbia that he was destined to be an entertainer.  Dalj  has been performing in the Vancouver acting community for the past 5 years.  Over that time he has accumulated over 30 film credits varying from principal actor to lead actor. After completing his studies at School Creative in 2007, Dalj has been very busy working on a number of film projects while still attending workshops and classes to keep up his skills.  He was recently accepted into the Jason Alexander Master Class  in Los Angeles where he learned an incredible wealth of information from the 'Seinfeld' star who made George Costanza a household name.  Dalj is looking forward to working with great directors as he furthers his acting career. 

Mother - BALINDER JOHAL: 

Balinder Johal was born and raised and educated in India. She came to Canada and taught at UBC. She took early retirement from teaching to follow her dreams. She works on TV, Film, commercials and voiceovers and has been doing theatre for almost half a century. She does cultural consulting and dialect coaching in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English. She won the Leo Award in 2008 for best Female Performance in a short film Birthday and was also a Leo Nominee for Best Supporting Female in Deepa Mehta’s Feature Heaven on Earth in 2009. She is represented by Kim Barsanti of Muse Artist Management and her credits, full resume and headshots can be seen on IMDB. 

Father-in-Law - RAJINDER SINGH CHEEMA: 

Raised in Moga, Punjab, India alongside his two sisters and brother, Rajinder Singh immigrated to Canada in 1969 following the completion of his education, where he married Surinder Kaur in Vancouver in 1974.  Over the past 40 years Rajinder Singh has worked within a number of fields but recently has become involved in the television and film industries.  He had the re- occurring role of City Councillor Rajinder Ahluwalia on CBC’s DaVinci’s Inquest and DaVinci’s City Hall. Additionally due to its cultural relevance Rajinder Singh participated in the production of CBC’s Murder 
Unveiled as not only an actor but cultural advisor and turban (dastaar) stylist as well.  Also connected to the South Asian community was the film Enough is 
Enough in which Rajinder Singh plays a lead role, the film was produced by the Vancouver & Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services.  In 2008, Rajinder Singh could be seen in Deepa Mehta’s Heaven on Earth, in which he plays Papaji.
